what you're about to read is my attempt to uncollapse those two things: on the left hand pages i write about what happened; on the right i extrapolate a story related to the events that i have let ripple throughout my life. this is the way i wound up being and, in my sharing, i hope you discover some of how you came to be the way you are. what you do with that discovery once you've had it is up to you - for me, i found freedom from a lot of the heartbreak and obligation i lived with. my invitation is for you to look, and to discover what is there for you. yours, - c.w.lee

Biographical Note
c.w.lee is a writer transplanted in los angeles after a lifetime of living in new york. an award winning slam poet in his youth, c.w.lee was first turned on to poetry through the dc writerscorps and has been published in various literary arts magazines and several poetry anthologies under his birth name. during his time in new york, c.w.lee was a regular performer at the bowery poetry club, the nuyorican poets cafe, and the sidewalk cafe. the love and loss he experienced in new york were critical to his development as a writer, providing his work a degree of longing that echoes in his everyday life. it is that sense of saudade that had c.w.lee move from new york to los angeles. in changing the context for his writing, c.w.lee discovered the landmark education and re-discovered his relationship to his word. with this new relationship to his work, c.w.lee has uncovered a newly found sense of freedom and authenticity in his writing. c.w.lee is presently working on an allegorical graphic novel and a science fiction book series based on the visions of a shamanic dreamer. as with his memoir, these works aim to illuminate a world deeper than the words written on the page.
