阿斯特丽德·林格伦，瑞典的民族英雄，94岁高龄的童话外婆。她在1945年步入儿童文坛就标志着世纪儿童——皮皮已经诞生。
1958年，林格伦获“安徒生金质奖章”。她的作品被译为86种文字，发行量达到1亿3。把她的书摞起来有175个埃菲尔铁塔那么高，把它们排成行可以绕地球三周。她成功地用自己的作品，为全世界的孩子留下了一个又一个永远不会长大的童年伙伴。“长袜子皮皮这个人物形象在某种程度上把儿童和儿童文学从传统、迷信权威和道德主义中解放出来……皮皮变成了自由人类的象征。”
1907年出生在瑞典斯莫兰省一个农民家里。20年代到斯德哥尔摩求学。毕业后作过一两年秘书工作。她有30多部作品。获得过各种荣誉和奖励。
1950年获瑞典图书馆协会颁发的“尼尔斯，毫尔耶松金匾”；
1957年获瑞典“高级文学标准作家”国家奖；1958年获“安徒生金质奖章”；1970年获瑞典《快报》“儿童文学和促进文学事业金船奖”；
1971年获瑞典文学院“金质大奖章”；此外，她还获得过1959年《纽约先驱论坛报》春季奖和1957年德国青年书籍比赛的特别奖。她在1946—1970年将近四分之一世纪里担任拉米和合格伦出版公司儿童部主编，对创造这个时期的瑞典儿童文学的黄金时代做出了很大贡献。
