阅读作为英语语言学习的一个重要方面．既可以扩大学生的词汇量，又可以使学生在阅读的过程中了解英美国家的文化背景、生活习俗、思维习惯以及英语语言的特点。为了激发并保持学生的阅读兴趣。让学生在完成阅读的同时，体验英语语言的优关、感受中西方文化的差异、享受阅读带来的乐趣，我们于2008年编写了“小学英语随堂阅读60篇”丛书。这套丛书出版以来一直受到广大读者的好评。
近几年随着小学英语阅读要求的提高，读者迫切需要新的阅读材料。应广大读者的要求，我们在“小学英语随堂阅读60篇”丛书的基础上编写了“提高版”。
